Chatuchak(J.J Market)

Jatujakguide.com

More than 15,000 shops in 27 separate sections span an area of 1.13 square kilometers. This is BKK’s biggest weekend market and, oh yeah, the biggest in the world too! Each weekend day, nearly 100,000 shoppers frequent here looking for classic objects to those in trend. On any given Saturday or Sunday the revenue generated tops more than THB 100,000,000 – have we generated enough reasons for you to come? Want to hear more about the unique attractions?

Jeans Market

Every kind, every brand, every collection of new, 2nd hand, old and vintage jeans. Hunting for your favorite pair is fun…..but fitting rooms are scarce at JJ so the trick is to wrap the waist of the pants so if fits snugly around your neck. It’s up to you, but maybe come with an empty belly – not just for the great food stalls. But to help with finding that perfect pair of jeans too…….

BKK anatomy: Little known fact….your neck is half the circumference of your waist.

International & Film Collection

Thai film lovers and those in the biz all come to Chatuchak for its vast selection of rare foreign and international films. Be careful though, “arrrrr.” It’s a pirate area. An ocean of movies like classic Thai and Western cinema, independent films, hard to find titles, short films, animations – everything. You could go there just to exchange ideas and talk about the silver screen with the buff next to you.

Land of ceramics

Dirt cheap. A lot of defective items from local factories wind up at Chatuchak. Some have defects so small, you won’t even notice the dent to your wallet. Quality so high, a lot of restaurant owners come here to set their tables. We really think you’ll be surprised: many items are what you’d find in a five – star hotel or pieces you’d see in the nicest boutique shops. There are other premium grades and brand names too…..

UNESCO note:  UNESCO selected 144 products from Asia to receive ‘The Award of Excellence for Handicrafts’ in 2008. Thailand wheeled away with six of those and we’re fired up over the three outstanding items from the Bangkok shops listed below: Royal Pumpkin Jar> This pumpkin shaped jar was inspired by the same design used inside Indonesia’s Royal Palace.

Palatial Composition and Phya Thai Palace

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

………Although it also once served as the obscure ‘Dusit Thani’ a miniature model city intending to train Thais on how a democracy should operate – this palace is more typically visited because it was King Rama Vl’s elaborate royal residence. Certain areas are lacking (due to an ongoing restoration process) but the arrangement of the buildings still astound due to the variety of architectural styles present. Those who visit the palace are likely to be particularly impressed by the frescoes inside Phiman Chakri Throne Hall, the unique fleches and the large number of art nouveau paintings. Visitors will also get an opportunity to feel like monarch if they listen to the classical music concerts held at Thewarat Sapharom Hall-check the website for schedule.

History’s study

Varadis Palace Museum & Damrong  Rajanubhap Library

Stories that began in this palace created a valuable record for Thailand. Imagine Prince Damrong Rajanubhap known as the father lf Thai history entertaining his friends and relatives in this beautiful house designed by German architect Karl Siegfried Dohring. Here he’d sit on the floor and enthusiastically retell the significant facts and legends about Thai people.

Damrong ajanubhab Library 8.30 – 16.30 Mon – Fri 0-2282-9110, 0-2281-7577 princedamronglib.org The Prince lived in times of great transition and, while helping to clarify his nation’s past, he also educated his countrymen on the relevance l the present. Using his experience as a seasoned traveller he helped many royals (who were planning to travel abroad) learn about Western table manners and culture. A man of letters. Maybe you can envision him working in his library; a building that still houses his prolific collection of scholarly textbooks and rare documents.

I remember when this was all fields… (Siam Square/Mbk)

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

What you din’t get: Siam square and MBK are situated in close proximity to the major Phaya Thai Road in Pathumwan district. This is one of the most developed area of Bangkok today. Thailand’s oldest University, Chulalongkorn University, owned the land Siam Square is situated on and in 1965 the college begun constuction in the area to gain rental income. The Siam Square you see today flourished because of its nearness to the school, and University students helped contribute to the popularity of the area, prodding a variey of investors to contribute to its developments. Similarly MBK opened in 1985 on a plot of land owned by Chulalongkorn University, and the mall continues to renew its lease on the land.

What you didn’t know: Antique maps from 70 years ago show the Siam Square and MBK area boasted vast lotus orchards and rice fields. We’re sure you’d rather have somewhere conveniently located to buy the lasten ipad than see sprawling meadows anyway.

What it could mean: The humble beginnings of Siam Square was to provide leasing profits to Chulalongkorn University, and the key factor of location has helped it develop into a unique area. MBK has stood firm because of its competitive edge in providing electronics, which suggests that these retail centers were lucky until Siam Paragon decided to plop down right across them.

Royal View Resort is located in Rangnam Road, So just 3 Station (Sky-Train) to The Siam Square and MBK. Guest who stay at Royal View Resort will enjoy to shopping at MBK and Siam Square.

Aroma Oil And Aromather Massage

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Most spas offer an oil massage with essential oils that are usually selected by the customer based either their smell, or their promised effects. Aromatherapy as an esoteric healing practice needs to have a higly-trained practitioner to be really effective, but using it in a more general way is quite pleasant. The massage part is usually a gentle Swedish massage or some vision of lymphatic-oriented massage.

Everyone’s aware that there are millions of ways of cleansing and detoxifying your body. Reasonable diets, light exercise, correct breating, massage, mediatation, saunas, stream baths, skin brusing, body scrubs, and oxygen therapies are all effective. But do you realise that quickest and most effective method i sby going without food for while?

Fasting is the quickest way to deal with most illness. Infact, children and animals fast automatically when they sick, for it serves as a trigger for activating their own self-healing mechanism. Whernever your digestive system rests, the cells of your body automatically start releasing accumulated toxins. A 3-day fast cleanses your entire digestive tract. And, incredibly, a 7-day fast perorms a major purification of your blood system, which gives your major organs a good clean-up, too!

Do Survive How to Eat As Thais

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

If you haven’t already noticed, eating is avery important activity here in Thailand. Since you’ll be spending a lot of your time at dining table, here are a few things you’ll need to remember when it comes to Thai table manners.

It usual eating utensils are a fork and spoon. The fork innot used to eat with, but rather to push food onto spoon.

Don’t forget to use serving spoon, especially if you’re sick (unless you on’t like the people you’re diing with!)

The most senior of the group usually sits at the head of the table and is  often expected to be the one who take care of the bill too.

The most common dessert is seasonnal fruits. Although we rarely need to carve them into intricate flowers before we eat them.

Of course, all the usual etiquette applies here too, such as not chewing with your month full, not propping up elbows, legs or any other limbs, and wash your hands before the meal(at leat don’t tell your fellow diners that you haven’t)

Thai people don’t pray or “say graace” before a meal – we just dig in! However, some people do bow their heads and wai if they have leftovers on their plate after a meal; this is asking for forgiveness for wasting food.

A thai meal is a relaxed and friendly group affair. Take your time, enjoy your food and the pleasure of your company!

Therefore, if you want to enjo Thai food with Thai traditional, come to stay with Royal View Resort we’re promtly to serve orginal Thai food to taste and test.
